The Town of Cutler Bay recently received awards from the American Public Works Association (APWA), South Florida Branch. Four projects were recognized. These projects include the Saga Bay 1.5 Sub-Basin Water Quality Improvement Project, the Whispering Pines Park Pervious Turf Block and Drainage Improvements Project, and the Saga Bay 1.5 Sub-Basin Waer Quality Improvement Project.
The Sage Bay 1.5 Sub-Basin Water Quality Improvement Project, executed by SRS Engineering, Inc. and RG Underground Engineering, Inc. involved enhancing drainage for approximately 85 residential homes. This initiative has improved the community’s resilience to localized flooding. The Whispering Pines Park Pervious Turf Block and Drainage Improvements Project, overseen by Stantec Consulting Services, Inc. and Coreland Construction, Corp, has provided upgrades to the park’s infrastructure, including improved drainage systems and safe routes to school enhancements.
Rafael Casals, town manager for Cutler Bay was quoted as saying , “It is certainly an honor to be recognized by our municipal colleagues who reviewed the town’s submittals and awarded these prestigious awards. These awards underscore our Public Works Director, Alfredo Quintero, and Stormwater Utility Manager, Yenier Vega’s commitment to delivering high-quality, infrastructure projects that benefit our community.”
