Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced his third term by taking the oath at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on June 9, in an extravagant ceremony attended by over 8,000 guests. The event marked Modi’s tribute to Jawaharlal Nehru, the only other leader to hold three consecutive terms in India’s history.
Among the distinguished guests were heads of neighboring countries, notable personalities, and religious figures, while Modi’s coalition secured victory in the parliamentary elections with 293 seats.
The government, comprising 71 ministers, took their oaths promising to uphold the Indian Constitution, with details of their portfolios to be revealed later. Despite a decrease in seats for Modi’s party, strategic alliances secured their position, with certain demands influencing future governance.
As Modi embarks on his third term amidst challenges, the government’s dynamic will be shaped by the alliances forged and the promises made to sustain unity and progress in the country.
